Bill Butts was like a lot of teens discovering anime, although instead of just trying to mimic Goku’s hair he decided to mimic the physique. Along the way he discovered acting and one fateful trip to an anime convention dubbing session and he was set on his path. Since then Bill has been in Bleach, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and My Hero Academia. Unfortunately there are almost no clips of his work on the Internet, so his performances remain a mystery unless you, you know, watch the shows for real. You can also find him in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as Douglas…wait, there’s no clips of that either? Who did Bill piss off?
Bill chats with Evan about being a gigantic nerd (in multiple senses), racial sensitivity in anime casting, the weirdest retake situation he’s seen and sprinkling Wu-Tang into his performances. He also answers a question from J. Michael Collins about keeping clients happy.
