New from Fancy Pants Gangsters: Girl Germs
No, this will not require cootie shots, just an ear for the greatest female musicians on the planet, living or dead. I even think there’s a Zombie Etta James in there somewhere. Fancy Pants Gangsters presents Girl Germs!
Once upon a time, Girl Germs lived on venerable college station Radio K, but they had to go and graduate, stretching the premise of “college radio” a little far. Luckily we at Fancy Pants Gangsters do not live in the same Logan’s Run-world, so Girl Germs can live on. Starting this Friday, hosts Dana and Anna will present some of the best female-fronted, female-backed, and female-sided bands around, as well as take a look at the pioneers that influenced the artists you are listening to today.
The plan is to release a new show every other Friday, although once they become stupidly successful netcasters we might be able to convince them to go weekly, so make sure to listen and tell your cooler friends to listen as well. The first episode will feature bubblegum pop and a small preview of SXSW coverage, and in the following weeks they’ll have interviews, guest playlists, and much more.
As if they weren’t cool enough, the Girl Germs folks also do a monthly TV Party at the Red Stag Supper Club, highlighting great lady-led TV. The next event is this coming Monday, where they will be screening episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Be sure to come down and say hi.
All of us at Fancy Pants Gangsters are freakishly excited for this new addition to our family, and hopefully you guys are too. First episode comes out this Friday, March 11th, so keep checking the site for more info.
