Ep. 83 – Brian Augustyn

The first day of MSP ComiCon 2016 wraps up with brilliant industry legend Brian Augustyn!

He edited Action Comics, Wonder Woman, Justice League, The Question, and Green Arrow! He co-wrote The Flash with Mark Waid! And, most of all, created the Elseworlds line with Mike Mignola with the seminal Gotham by Gaslight!

Brian recounts the Secret Origins of the Gotham By Gaslight! It’s an incredible story that you can’t miss (with such names of Mark Waid, Dick Girodano, Mike Mignola, and P. Craig Russell’s involved).

We then jump to the present and discuss Brian’s current projects (none of which he can discuss, darn NDAs) for Visionary, some dabbling in short stories and novels, and his own weekly podcast with his daughter, Carolyn and Birdie (Bunny Vomit) Birdashaw, “Sort Of A Big Show.” He also gives Adam some fatherly advice. And gives massive props to Ms. Marvel and G. Willow Wilson and gives his views on the important role women creators play in the comic book industry.

Brian gives some love this his favorite Gilbert, AZ pizza joint: Salerno’s!

Huge thanks to the Midwest Comic Book Association for giving Panels & Pizza the opportunity to interview creators at MSP ComiCon 2016!

Not enough thanks to Kent and the crew at Frankie’s Chicago Style in New Hope for providing the pizzas from MSP ComiCon 2016 weekend! None of the guests left the table hungry!

And finally, thanks to Hot Comics and Collectibles for their continued support!

Make sure to check out the Panels & Pizza Patreon page and give me you money.
